Optoma is warning its customers to be vigilant against counterfeit lamps.
Why buy a genuine Optoma lamp?
- Lamps are made up of two parts – the bulb and the bulb holder. Optoma genuine lamps are designed specifically and uniquely for Optoma projectors. Counterfeit lamps may contain differences that could affect the performance of your projector.
- Installing a counterfeit lamp into an Optoma projector may damage the projector which would void your projector’s warranty. Repairs resulting from damage caused by a counterfeit lamp would not be covered under the warranty
- Counterfeit lamps may lead to reduced performance and reduced life expectancy of your projector.
How do I know if I have a genuine Optoma lamp?
The majority of Optoma lamps now come in original Optoma packaging and can be identified by this. An example of the Optoma packaging can be seen below.
All genuine Optoma lamps carry a tamper resistant sticker (pictured below). If the lamp packaging does not carry this sticker, or the seal is broken or damaged, it may be a counterfeit lamp.
Optoma strongly recommends that customers fit only genuine Optoma lamps into Optoma projectors. Customers can check whether they have a genuine Optoma lamp here:
