Great experiences at reasonable price

We are impressed with the colours, texture and transitions. The small details of skin tones and the naturalness with which everything is reproduced. When the price is included in the equation, Optoma has committed a little stroke of genius with the HD27, as long as you have a room that you can darken somewhat.

Compared to the more expensive models, we missed “lens shift”, which makes the setup easier. But otherwise there are plenty of nice settings, and the presets for movies, games and other genres work well in practice

“The Optoma HD27 offers an impressive home cinema experience for home cinema enthusiasts. The projected image is naturally sharp and with Optoma’s Amazing Colour technology the colour reproduction will be hard to surpass. All in all the Optoma HD27 surprised and is definitely worth a recommendation!”

HD27

“The projector displays a surprisingly good picture quality – the colors are saturated and punchy.”

“If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive projector for home theater, certainly you should consider the Optoma HD27. The displayed image is really good quality, the projector is small, so it is not difficult is to find a place for it in the living room, and if necessary, you can even take it with you to your friends to watch a movie.”

“Video projectors in the price range around 20,000 crowns wage an uncompromising fight. Optoma bet on a quality deep blacks while preserving fine details. An added bonus is the long lamp life (up to 8000 hours in eco mode) and relatively high brightness and contrast ratio which you will appreciate when watching Hollywood movies as well as the daily consumption of TV serials, news or sports broadcasts. A pair of HDMI version 1.4a inputs accepts 3D Full HD signal source. Keystone correction and a 10W speaker make life easier for portable usage for business presentations or private movie projections.”

“It is a real pleasure to watch blockbusters thanks to 1080p (Full HD) resolution (without downscaling or compression). In the this review I reached a screen size of 4.57 metres, which corresponds to a 180 inch screen size. Even at a 180 inch screen size, I had an impressively clear and high-contrast image.”

HD27

Overall rating: Excellent 9/10

“HD27 produces pleasant images even without Darbee enhancement and detailed settings will reward you with deep blacks while details in the picture are preserved. Relatively high brightness and solid contrast ratio works well for use in environments with some residual ambient light. The HD27 isn’t only a movie projector but also designed for all day use – watching TV series, news, sport broadcasts and also playing games using gaming consoles.“

AV Forums awarded the HD27 8/10 and an AV Forums Best Buy Award, it said:

“The fact it can meet the Rec.709 colour standard at the price point is a major achievement and added to good brightness levels, great motion and excellent 3D it is an absolute steal for the money.”

“Given the price point and performance within the home entertainment remit we feel the HD27 is certainly worthy of a Best Buy badge and should be on your demo list if you’re looking for a budget all-rounder.”

HD27

“In the world of projectors, it can be hard to find models like the newest Optoma HD27. This is a projector which can create insanely bright images with stellar picture quality behind them, all at a price that makes the home theater hobby available to almost every level of potential buyer out there.”

“You won’t find a better 1080p projector on shelves at this price point from a pure picture standpoint, so as long as you have a draft running through your home theater and an external stereo system to hook up to, the HD27 checks off every box.”

HD27

“HD27 is replacement of  the HD26 and has better sharpness and a very high uniformity of image. Brightness is also better in comparison to the HD26 which allows you to have larger screen size. The main feature which increases the image quality is a new colour wheel to produce very natural colours in Rec. 709 standard.”

HD27

“The Optoma HD27 is ideal for larger living rooms as it does not have to be hung in the middle of the room on the ceiling, but can be placed inconspicuously at the back of the room. If you are looking for authentic colours…you will be rewarded with colours according to Rec.709 standard.”

HD27

“a compact, lightweight cutie that weighs just 2.5kg, is small enough to squirrel away beneath the stairs when not in use, yet more than equipped to front a convincing home cinema system. And it sells for about a tenth of the price of a 65in OLED TV.”

“This is a cinematic offering that’s a doddle to set up and does a cracking job with HD content.  And importantly, it’s just as at home with next-gen games as it is with TV and movies.  Just add a media streamer for Netflix, Amazon and YouTube, plus a sound system, and your budget multiplex is up and running.”
