Available for purchase at these online retailers:

Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers

Industry leading Knowles balanced armature drivers are used in each NuForce HEM series* to deliver Hi-Res Audio certified sound. Multiple drivers are used to cover a specific range of frequency response in select models, which allows the HEM in-ear monitors to produce high-fidelity audio with lower distortion and faster transients. (*Excluding HEM Dynamic that uses Dynamic micro driver.)

Hi-Res Audio certified

All NuForce HEM series earphones are Hi-Res Audio certified, and can reach frequencies as high as 40,000Hz – twice the frequency range of traditional earphones and in-ear monitors.

Acoustically calculated Lexan housing

Each NuForce HEM series housing is acoustically calculated for optimal audio performance and manufactured from high quality Lexan.

Replaceable cables

NuForce HEM series earphones come with replaceable cables. Users can simply swap the cable without purchasing a whole new pair of earphones when the cable becomes too worn. Most other 2-pin aftermarket cables are compatible so users can further tweak the sound signature to better suit their taste.

Ergonomic earpieces

Each earpiece is engineered for optimal comfort without irritating or adding pressure to the ear. The ergonomic design lets users enjoy music, videos and calls all day without fatigue or discomfort. A combination of over-the-ear cable loop and ergonomic design make the NuForce HEM series ideal for home, studio, stage and mobile use.

Talk to Siri and Google Assistant

NuForce HEM earphones (excluding HEM1) include an inline remote with microphone that supports voice assistants, like Siri and Google Assistant. Users can activate voice assistants, play/pause and skip songs directly from the inline remote.

“Part of me would like to report that there’s absolutely no reason to pay that much for in-ear monitors, but the HEM8 headphones make a strong case that you really do get a lot more for your money if you’ve got that much to spend. They sound incredible.”

“The important thing to know is that each earpiece has four individual drivers. 4+4 drivers = HEM8. The detail is spectacular and the bass is strong without turning the rest of the frequencies to mud like most bass-boosted headphones.”

“They’re for serious listening. If you spend more than a couple of hours a day playing music through headphones, the fact that they don’t cause ear fatigue could make them worth the investment.”

It’s hard not to love the NuForce HEM6s from Optoma. They come with everything you could possibly need from a high-end pair of headphones from multiple detachable cables (one with a remote and one without for better sound quality) to a range of earbuds that allow you to choose your level of noise-isolation.

But the most important reason why the NuForce HEM6 are our best pair of in-ear headphones is the sound quality. Their warm and rich sound is a pleasure to listen to, and they sound far more refined than their small size would suggest.

Let’s make no bones about it, these are stunning earbuds.

The buds come separately and you can choose to attach them to a coiled fabric cable or a more standard inline phone one.

The earbuds are memory foam so they actually slurp into your ear canal, and as for sound bleed, there is none, at top volume. We tried. Repeatedly. They’re insane. They’re unnecessary. But that doesn’t stop them being spectacularly good.

Tested Technology explains Hi-Res audio with some help from the Optoma NuForce HEM4 in-ear headphones:

“The technology is genuinely serious too—this is definitely not a Beats-type stitch-up.”

“…the HEM series uses a curiously snail-shaped enclosure made of Lexan, a proprietary lightweight thermoplastic polymer resin used in jet fighter canopies for its strength, impact resistance and—particularly significant in audio applications—mechanical stiffness.”

“The stiffness of Lexan resists the tendency of the HEM4 enclosure to resonate in sympathy with the sound waves being delivered, so you get nothing more nor less than what the input signal is meant to deliver.”

The HEM4 gives a clear and detailed presentation. I got a great sense of texture and tonality with an impressive soundstage.

These IEMs produced the kind of accuracy I would expect from more expensive earphones. Classical and acoustic music was handled with warmth and definition, whilst the heavier end of my catalogue had bite and power.

Some may find these lacking in the lows but everything was nicely balanced to these ears.

“Whether your average person will be able to hear that far is a different story, but it seemed the extra range allows a little more space in the overall sound signature, making for a top-notch soundstage. Transient sounds, like the quick tap of a snare drum, released faster than many other sets for more authentic percussion. We loved the extreme transparency- almost high contrast in the details, if just a touch warm and bright. Of course, you’re paying for the privilege of those extra drivers and the impressive feat of making the tiny package work so smoothly together”

It is a well-made earphone and the blue finish on the housings is smart without being too obtrusive.

Its presentation is very slightly forward, which gives it a consistently lively and exciting edge.

The use of an armature for the bass instead of a dynamic driver seems to lend it speed and definition that is very useful whenever there is a more complex arrangement to deal with and, as before, it does well to draw you into the performance.

In the noisiest surroundings, it is able to keep any interference at bay without the need to raise the volume.  Combines with the useful level of sensitivity on offer and the inline remote, the HEM4 performs well with lower-powered sources, ensuring it is a tempting prospect for commuters
