I needed a projector for DJ light shows and had to spend many hours researching online to get one that would be good enough for my needs but cheap enough that I could afford it..I had no idea there were quite that many projectors out there. After reading some useful articles I was more informed.. I knew that for daytime projections to be visible I needed to go for at least 2000 lumens brightness and a gas powered bulb rather than LED as they were still not bright enough for my purposes, at my price point anyway (£175-£250)I ended up finding the Optoma s310 at a very low price and after reading a number of highly favourable reviews I hit buy it now and crossed my fingers..When it arrived next day I was impressed with the packaging for starters and was pleased that it arrived with a fitted soft case and remote. I soon had the unit set up and once it was running and in focus I had a bright colourful windows desktop on my wall, a few tweaks in the menu and the picture was even brighter, bigger and sharper than I ever hoped for at such a low price and this was in afternoon semi daylight (curtains open) I was just gobsmacked!I couldn’t wait to use it at night and my children and I watched some movies with the projected image on the wall, even without a screen it was so gorgeous I was glowing with pride. 5 hours continuous use and the casing was warm but not red hot as I expected..My projector is still one of my most valued pieces of equipment and I have just bought a lightning to VGA connector so I can now plug my ipad into the projector. Wow, awesome, I am so impressed with this projector’s ease of use and reliability and would not hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone. The construction quality is solid and the picture quality is just amazing, especially for such a low price. It has worked perfectly with all of my computers including Imac, PCs running windows XP, Windows 10, ipad mini and ipad air, all with excellent clear results.I intend to get a short throw unit next time and start building up a battery of units to do light shows with! 10:10

We bought this projector for business use, after reading some mixed reviews we opted for this one. We couldn’t be more happier with it, for the price you cannot knock it, the quality of the actual projector itself it excellent. The zoom an focus dials are brilliant. The quality of the picture just on a wall is really good. We did buy a screen for it as well, although this has not yet been used. But it is on the wall and we cannot find fault with that either. So all in all this projector is brilliant and does its job!

For the price this projector is everything that can be expected and with very good results, the contrast and brightness are good also. Replaced an Optoma projector which was in service for 12 years, 7 hours a day, over 200 days a year and with only a projector lamp or two replaced.

Before I bought my Optoma S310e DLP projector I had a Benq MS500, which was ok for about 2 years’ infrequent use (playing a couple of movies each weekend) and then developed a fault where it would turn on for 5 minutes, then turn off. When the fault occurred I looked on the Internet for a cure and discovered Benq projectors had a reputation for being unreliable. I ran the same search for Optoma and found nothing. The Benq zoomand focus dial was a poor design and difficult to rotate to a fine focus – the Optoma’s are a breeze. The Benq’s trapezoidal adjust range wasn’t quite enough, the Optoma’s is perfect. Just as I installed the projector, Windows 10 decided it didn’t like my chosen resolution and instead set it to 1600×1200. If that has happened on the Benq I’d have been stuffed, but on the Optoma, I was stunned I could still see enough to change the resolution back. On its native setting the picture is stunning and the menus are so easy to use with the remote – again unlike the Benq, which was also more expensive. I particularly like the Native option that expands thin widescreen movies to fill pretty much all of my 8 foot screen – even losing the sides to compensate, the view is tremendous. If its reliability is as good as its functionality, I may never look at another manufacturer 🙂 I love it, it’s a great low end projector at a great price, what more can I say?

I have been showing films on screen for 70years.Starting with 9.5 and 16mm film projectors. I am now 82.I converted to DVD projectors with an OptomaS241 in 2012. In September this year I had a problem in that equally spaced vertical lines appeared on the screen. As I had further presentations to do soI bought an Optoma E310e The E310e gives me a lovey clean and brightpicture and I am very happy with my purchase.I would really like to get my S241 working again but even getting a fault diagnosed would be expensive. Perhaps you could guide me on this matter after all it is only 3 years old Thanks for your service

I’ve only just started using it, but so far its been very good. I bought it to take out to deliver talks, so needed something lightweight and portable, not too expensive, quick to set up and with bright image projection. This is all of those things. The bulb get very hot very quickly, so it does need to have plenty of space round it for air circulation. The set up is simple (once I’d worked out that the buttons to select are on the separate remote control, not on the top of the actual projector) – I’m not very techy, so this was great! I do wonder what will happen if I lose the remote. Not quite sure its necessary. I’d prefer it to be all in one, so there’s no chance of losing anything. Maybe I’m just missing something and it can also be controlled from the top too? The image was very bright and clear, even with a reasonable amount of ambient light. The manual focus and zoom is lovely and simple. The little extendable foot to adjust the height doesn’t lift the image up high enough if you’re in a small room and have to be fairly close to the screen. It could do with being a bit longer. Having said that, its no drama to prop a book or something under it as well. The carry case it comes with is handy, but the top opening is a bit fiddly to get the thing in and out. Can’t really complain as it came free with it. All in all, its a great little projector that does just what I need it to do and I would definitely recommend it.

if you ignore the size and heating this is all that you want in terms if you’d buy a projector…”what you see is what you get”,,,excellent!!!
